Happy New Year everyone! May 2018 bring you lots of love, happiness and so much more. I’m not into new year resolutions as too many times they are unreasonable and get broken. So just be thankful with what makes you happy!
2017 has been a very interesting year as far as my blogging went when I started out with the 52-week-challenge that has now ended up being my life-story and some. My intention was for it to just be available online for the grandchildren to find in years to come but after seeing the excitement on their faces when I gave them photobooks for Christmas of their “one-week holiday” at Nanna and Pops, I decided the story needs to be in hard copy as well.
So these past few days I have copied every post from the challenge into my scrapbooking software. I use Artisan by Forever as it allows me to work offline. Where I’ll print the book is yet to be decided.
I did think that was the end of my weekly blogging and I was already starting to have withdrawal symptoms, when along came a post on my Facebook this morning about a new challenge, 52-ancestors-in-52-weeks. I was like, nah, that’s too hard. That thought was out of my head as quick as it came in as I realised that this was another opportunity to add to my already created blog of our ancestors.
Some of my old posts I will resurrect, add to or just tidy up. A bit like the Genealogy Do-Over that Thomas MacEntee started a few years back, but I just couldn’t start from scratch, that was not ever going to happen, so like many, we called it Genealogy Go-Over and this 52-Ancestors challenge could be based on that idea.
So, here goes, ready-set-go!
These are some of the blogs that I got inspiration from to write my 52-week-challenge. Sometimes it was an every day event that got me thinking. I often had some blog headings already started and put into draft, using it to add my thoughts then I would come back to them to finish off and schedule for publishing.

Good Luck! and most of all Enjoy!
You certainly have some stamina Jenny. Good luck with the new 52 challenge.
Happy New Year, Jenny. I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog posts this year. Best of luck with the challenge you have set yourself this year.
Thank you Jen. I’m eager to get the first email tip from Amy so I can get started and which ancestor to start with.
You have thrown out the gauntlet (which I still am bending to pick up) for the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks. I know I only have two days in which to accept, but am worried I won’t always be able to complete each of the 52 weeks – not from writing about ancestors, but in getting work completed by a dead-line. I have always worked to timetables, but at the moment there may be too many variables to adhere strictly to it. Still thinking….Will let you know probably tomorrow. You absolutely amaze me with everything you can accomplish! Well done.
I amazed myself Kathy, but once I started the memories just came back. One blog at a time.
Good on you Jenny for taking up the 52 Week challenge again. I would love to do it, but I seem to have too many other things to make the commitment to being that regular. But I admire those who do. And remember as you write, you are saving stories from being lost.
It was your post 12 months ago that got me started. I didn’t think I could do it, but often went back to your site for inspiration. Now let’s see if I can complete this one. TY.
